Old Fashioned
INGREDIENTS LIST
- 2 oz (60 ml) of bourbon
- 1 tsp (5 ml) of Monsieur Cocktail peach syrup or maple syrup
- 3 dashes of Angostura bitters
- Orange zest (for garnish)
Optionnel :
PrEparation
In a mixing glass, add all the ingredients and mix with ice.
Strain into an Old Fashioned glass fitted with a large ice cube.
Garnish with an orange zest.
About
The Old Fashioned, before having its fixed bourbon + sugar + bitter form, was first and foremost the very definition of a cocktail, i.e. "a stimulating liquor, composed of alcohol, sugar, water and bitters" (1806). When the word "cocktail" began to refer to all alcoholic mixtures, old gentlemen would have addressed their bartender and asked: "A cocktail in the old fashioned way, please". Thus was born this legendary cocktail. And that was long before Don Draper made it the emblem of Mad Men-style chic!
