About our Mai Tai with Orange Syrup
Let's give back to Vic what (probably) belongs to Vic, the self-proclaimed creator of the Mai Tai. Victor Bergeron, bartender and owner of Trader Vic in Oakland, California, claims the fatherhood of this cocktail. He would have created it in 1944, when America was in full Tiki madness. The name would come from the exclamation of one of her friends of Hawaiian origin who, tasting the cocktail, would have launched in Tahitian "Maita'i roa ae!" , which means “it's amazing – it's the best”. It's hard not to agree with her!
